Hay Walking Festival 2014 Guide!

It's that time of year again! Here are some highlights of events not yet sold out for next week's festival, but please see the website for the full listing.

Wednesday 8th October - 10.00 - 3.00 - The Art of Slow Travel 

For the bookworms among you, this walk is lead by authors, starting with a bus ride on a linear walk from Glasbury to Hay-on-Wye. £8.00

Wednesday 8th October - 9.00 - 5.00  - Middle Wye Adventure Day 

An amazing 40 mile walk of riffles, rocks, dippers, woodland, cider apple orchards, pasture land, rugged hills and dramatic views all along the River Wye. Available in three parts - on Thursday and Friday too. £14.00 

Thursday 9th October - 10.00-12.30 - The Cat's Back from Craswall 

With fantastic views, this walk starts from the Bull's Head, a steep climb up to the Cat's Back, around the Hay Bluff then back along a quiet wooded path. £8.00.

Thursday 9th October - 9.30-2.30 - A Scramble in the Darrens

Crossing the border from England into Wales, this walk enjoys both the views of Herefordshire fields and wild Wales. £8.00 

Friday 10th October - 9.30-2.30 - Tristan Gooley: The Walker's Guide 

The bestselling author draws on two decades of pioneering outdoors experience to offer walkers the ultimate guide to natural navigation - finding your way using nature. £8.00

Friday 10th October - 9.30-4.30- The Ruins of Craswall Priory 

This walk encompasses one steep climb, woods and moorland then along the valley back to Hay. £8.00

Saturday 11th October - 9.30-4.30 - From the Gospel Pass to Grwyne Fawr   

Sponsored by the Welsh Venison Centre, this walk covers hills, farmland, Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth on the north and west side of the Black Mountains. £8.00

Sunday 12th October - 9.00-4.00 -  Along the Dragon's Back 

An historic walk taking in Castell Dinas, an Iron Age hill fort and Norman castle with great views along the way. £8.00 

Sunday 12th October - 10.00-4.00 - Glacial Legacy 

The summit of Mynydd Llangorse lead by world explorer James Creswell as he tells the story behind the glacial landmark. £5.00 

Sunday 12th October - 9.00-4.30 - Stone Circle Circuit

A strenuous but rewarding walk with astounding views along the Black Hill ridge, Offa's Dyke, Twmpa and the Gospel Pass. £8.00
