Friends of St Mary’s Speaker Series: Exploring the Origins of the Universe with Nick Busby

By j.bell on 16/06/2025

The next event in the Friends of St Mary’s Speaker Series offers an evening of science, storytelling and cosmic discovery right in the heart of Brecon and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).

On Tuesday 17 June 2025 at 7pm, join guest speaker Nick Busby at St Mary’s Church, Brecon for a fascinating talk titled "The Origin of Everything." Nick is chairman of both the Usk and Abergavenny Astronomical Societies, a member of the Bannau Brycheiniog Dark Sky Board and an experienced science communicator with a background in geology, astronomy and education.

In this session, Nick will explore how the elements that make up our planet — and everything in the known universe — first came into existence. From meteorites to stardust, Nick will explain how rocks that have fallen to Earth help unlock some of the biggest questions in science.

Venue: St Mary’s Church, Brecon
Date: Tuesday 17 June 2025
Time: 7pm
Tickets: £10 on the door
Everyone welcome — please spread the word.

Looking ahead: July’s Speaker Event

The talk ties in with the exhibition of Eldridge’s work at Found Gallery, The Bulwark, Brecon, running from 2 July to 2 August 2025.
