This Saturday marks the final Saturday Market of the year in Hay-on-Wye — and it’s not one to miss. From 10am to 4pm, Memorial Square, the Buttermarket, Cheese Market Hall and surrounding streets will be bustling with independent traders, artisan makers, vintage stalls and local producers.
Run by Hay Markets, these special Saturday events have brought colour and energy to the town from April through October, complementing the regular Thursday markets that run year-round. This date is set to be a real showcase of local creativity and community spirit, with food, crafts, antiques and more to explore.
It also promises to be a busy weekend for Hay as a whole. Alongside the Saturday Market, Fungi Town at Hay Castle(3–5 October) will celebrate all things fungi, with talks, workshops, art and food, while the Castle itself continues to host an engaging programme of exhibitions and events. Visitors can easily spend the day enjoying both the vibrancy of the market and the cultural highlights around town.
Although this weekend marks the end of the seasonal Saturday Market series, there’s more to look forward to — a special Winter Market will take place on Saturday 29 November as part of the Hay Winter Festival weekend, offering a festive atmosphere and the perfect chance to shop local in the run-up to Christmas.
For Hay Markets, the Saturday events have proved hugely popular with both locals and visitors, reinforcing the town’s reputation as a lively hub within Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). This final Saturday market of the season is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the best of Hay’s traders before the programme wraps up.
