Llandovery Cinema presents an evening of Welsh language and bilingual short films celebrating LGBTQ+ stories — many of which have been celebrated by or featured at the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival (www.irisprize.org).
To mark Pride Month this June, Llandovery Cinema warmly invites you to a special evening of short films spotlighting LGBTQ+ voices from across Wales. Taking place on Saturday 21st June, 7pm at the Rhys Prichard Memorial Hall, this vibrant programme features a curated selection of Welsh language and bilingual short films that explore identity, community, and queer experience through powerful and poetic storytelling.
Showcasing the creativity of Welsh filmmakers, this event uplifts underrepresented voices within our national cinema. From deeply personal narratives to bold and imaginative shorts, the evening reflects the richness and diversity of queer life and culture in Wales today.
The evening begins with a friendly, informal shared meal at 6pm (doors open at 5:30pm). Guests are invited to bring along a dish to share—sweet or savoury—and enjoy a potluck-style gathering with a chance to connect, share stories, and build community spirit before settling down for the films.
🎬 Special Feature: The night will conclude with a live Q&A with Efa Blosse-Mason, director of the acclaimed animated short Cwch Deilen, chaired by Heart of Wales LGBTQ+, a Llandovery-based community group. Together, we’ll explore the themes of the films and rural pride through the lens of LGBTQ+ artists.
Join us as we celebrate Pride through film — with stories rooted in our language, landscapes, and lived experiences.
🕖 Time: 7pm (Meal Share at 6pm | Doors open at 5:30pm)
🎟 Tickets: £5 – available at LYCC (Market Square, Llandovery)
All are welcome. Come along and be part of this joyful celebration of Welsh language, film, and LGBTQ+ pride. 🏳️🌈
