Saturday 14 March | 7:00pm (for 7:30 start) | £7.00
Venue: Crickhowell Bowls Pavilion (Bar available)
An evening of resilience, determination and community spirit.
Following the death of his wife Angie from cancer, local action man Gwyn Dix set himself an extraordinary challenge. Mounting his homebuilt hybrid bike, he cycled from Crickhowell in Wales to Italy — covering 1,000 miles to raise funds for Velindre, the organisation that supported Angie during her final months.
This is not just a story about distance. It’s about grief, purpose and the power of doing something positive in the face of loss.
In this heartfelt and engaging talk, Gwyn shares the realities of his journey — the physical demands, the mental challenges and the unexpected moments along the way. A lively and natural speaker, he brings honesty and humour to what was both an emotional and demanding adventure.
For visitors and locals alike, this is a chance to hear a powerful personal story rooted in Crickhowell and the wider Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) community.
A moving and inspiring evening that reflects the strength of community and the impact of local support.
