Hay Castle is bringing a cult comedy-horror classic to the Great Hall for Halloween. An American Werewolf in London, directed by John Landis, will be shown indoors on Friday 30 October 2026.
A famous film with local connections
The story may be set on the Yorkshire Moors, but several scenes were filmed much closer to home. The road sequences were shot between Hay Bluff and Capel-y-Ffin, while the building used for the Slaughtered Lamb was in Crickadarn.
The film is also celebrated for the practical make-up, models and animatronic effects used to create its unforgettable werewolf transformation—long before computer-generated effects became standard.
Plan the evening
The bar opens at 7pm and the film starts at 8pm in Hay Castle’s Great Hall. Bring a cushion for extra comfort. Tickets are £15 at the time of publication; use the official booking page to check availability and current details.
