2. Bear Grylls Survival Academy- 24 Hour Family Course
A combination of survival skills and adventure tasks that will put families to the test. Designed to inspire fathers and sons, mothers and daughters alike, this 24-hour outdoor adventure has been created by Bear Grylls and his close team of experts, and is delivered by a range of hand-picked instructors at various locations across the UK, each with their own challenges of woodland, heath and water. In parent and child teams, you’ll learn Bear’s famous survival techniques: how to build and light a fire, how to navigate at night, foraging for grubs and rodents, water purification, building a shelter, extreme weather survival and river crossings, and the best ways to use a knife for survival. On day two, you’ll put these skills into action, following Bear’s ethos of self-rescue, by crossing difficult terrain back to captivity. 3. Sheep Trekking in the Brecon Beacons
The Good Day Out Sheep Trek, as featured on Countryfile, is excellent for the whole family, and is far more fun than your average walk in the hills. You can walk your very own especially trained Jacob sheep, fitted with it’s own halter and lead. Your sheep will then lead you along a scenic trek along ancient drover’s routes, taking you towards the Black Mountain with incredible views towards Pen Y Fan and the central Beacons. Around half way, you and your sheep will be treated to a snack picnic in a barn with a view. During the whole experience, you can chat with your farming host who will be happy to talk about life on their 200 acre organic Welsh Hill Farm, and you will also see quiet a few other animals along the way including horses, cattle, hens, ducks and dogs.
