Crickhowell Walking Festival 2016 kicks off at the end of the month. Read below to find some of the events and walks still available to book!
Walk 13-Canal and castle in song
Fun for all the family! Walk down to Crickhowell Bridge then across the meadows, through Llangattock to the canal near the Lime Kilns, then along the canal to Bridge 112. Return to the bridge across fields and through the beech wood then to the castle mound for harmony singing by Singplicity. Bring a decent torch, warm clothes and boots or good shoes. Afterwards come back to the hall for a bowl of warming soup, a roll and a brownie by Pepperberry Kitchen.
Event 08-BRITROCK
Leading adventure film maker Alastair Lee is back with a brand new mountain film for 2015 'The Citadel' featuring UK alpinists
Matt Helliker and Jon Bracy embarking on a first ascent in a
stunning and remote corner of the Alaskan wilderness.
The world's first 4k mountain film, a truly amazing spectacle.
We also will be showing, 'Operation Moffat' an inspiring account of Britain's first female mountain guide, the amazing Gwen Moffat (now 92). Added to the programme will be the superb short 'Wild Atlantic' a montage of all things climbing on the west coast of Ireland.

In the Frame - In March 2011 Joe Beaumont fell off a mountain. He is very lucky to be alive. Joe sustained multiple injuries down one side of his body and lay in intensive care. Thanks to the volunteers from Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team he was airlifted by the RAF Boulmer SaR team to hospital where he began his long journey towards recovery.

Event 23-Kenton Cool
Kenton Cool is the finest alpine climber of this generation.
He has summited Everest eleven times and is the first person in history to climb the three Everest peaks in one climb, a feat previously thought impossible. In 2012 he fulfilled the Olympic Games pledge of placing a 1924 gold medal on the Everest summit. He is the only Briton to have skied down two 8000-metre mountains, and in 2009 he guided Sir Ranulph Fiennes to the summit of Everest. And now, you can hear him speak about these and other adventures in his extraordinary life. Copies of his autobiography, "One Man's Everest" will be on sale. All proceeds for Kenton’s talk will be donated to Sherpa Future Fund supporting the victims of the earthquake.
