Independent bookshops are the beating heart of our high streets – and this Saturday, 11 October 2025, is all about celebrating them. Independent Bookshop Day (also known as Bookshop Day) shines a spotlight on local bookshops, encouraging everyone to discover, browse and start their Christmas shopping early with the people who make reading personal.
In the UK, Bookshop Day is organised by the Booksellers Association and supported by National Book Tokens and major publishers. It’s a nationwide celebration that champions community spirit and showcases the creativity, individuality and warmth that independent bookshops bring to every town and village.
Across Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), our independent bookshops are much more than retail spaces – they’re community hubs, event venues and places where readers, writers and visitors meet.
