Explore the entrance, living space, kitchen and twin bedroom at The Old Sunday School Room.
The Old Sunday School Room is a converted Victorian building in the quiet hamlet of Trianglas, just over two miles from Trecastle on the western side of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
Sleeping four to six guests, the cottage provides a comfortable base for couples, families and friends exploring the quieter western reaches of the National Park. Its rural location offers far-reaching views across the surrounding fields and hills, with walking and cycling routes beginning close to the property.
The Black Mountain, Llyn y Fan Fach and Usk Reservoir are all within easy reach, while Brecon and Llandovery provide opportunities for shopping, eating out and discovering the area’s history.
The cottage’s living accommodation is arranged upstairs to make the most of the surrounding views. The sitting room has seating for the whole group, a wood-burning stove and a collection of local books, walking guides and board games. Free Wi-Fi, Freesat television and a DVD player are also provided.
The adjoining dining area overlooks the countryside, while the fitted kitchen includes an oven, touchscreen hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer.
A first-floor cloakroom contains an additional shower and toilet, together with a washing machine and drying space for outdoor clothing.
Downstairs, the cottage has two bedrooms and a family bathroom. The main bedroom has a double bed and sofa bed, with space for a cot, while the second bedroom is furnished with twin beds.
The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over it. Bed linen, towels, heating and electricity are included, and the first basket of logs for the wood-burning stove is provided.
Dogs are welcome, although they are restricted to the upstairs living areas. This makes the cottage a practical option for visitors who want to explore the countryside with their pets.
There are opportunities for walking in Bannau Brycheiniog and cycling and mountain biking from the surrounding lanes and trails.
Secure storage is available beneath the cottage for bicycles, fishing tackle and other outdoor equipment. Usk Reservoir is nearby for walking, wildlife watching and fishing, while the surrounding Black Mountain landscape offers routes away from the National Park’s busier central peaks.
Visitors can also explore the villages around Sennybridge and Defynnog or travel further into the park for Pen y Fan, Waterfall Country and the National Showcaves Centre for Wales.
Outside, there is secure parking for two standard-sized cars and a small barbecue area beside the cottage. An electric vehicle charging point is also available.
Mobile reception can be limited because of the rural setting, but free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Short breaks are offered alongside week-long stays, with availability and online booking provided through Airbnb.
With its unusual history, flexible accommodation and access to the landscapes of western Bannau Brycheiniog, The Old Sunday School Room is well placed for walking holidays, family breaks and quieter stays in the Welsh countryside.
