Guided walks, shared experiences and practical leadership with Sarah Price Hiking.
Sarah Price Hiking provides professionally guided walks across Herefordshire and the eastern side of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
Based near Hay-on-Wye, Sarah leads walks through the Golden Valley, Black Mountains, Llanthony Valley, Brecon, Talybont-on-Usk, Crickhowell and Llangorse, as well as on the Gower Peninsula.
The programme includes scheduled group walks, private guided days, family outings, women-focused experiences and walking events created with charities, attractions and other organisations. Routes range from short, accessible outings to full-day hill walks, allowing people with different levels of experience and confidence to take part.
Group walks take place throughout the year and range from relaxed two-hour outings to longer and more challenging hiking days.
Each walk is graded using distance, ascent, terrain and pace, helping participants choose an experience that suits them. Themes vary and may include local history, wildlife, seasonal landscapes, poetry, food or time to socialise after the walk.
Sarah’s approach is unhurried, with time to enjoy the views, understand the landscape and talk with other walkers. Visitors can explore the current programme of guided group walks and book individual events online.
Private guided walks are designed around the people taking part. Individuals, couples, families and groups can choose their preferred distance, pace and style of landscape, with options ranging from a short walk to a full day outdoors.
Sarah takes care of the route planning and can incorporate particular interests, viewpoints or a stop for lunch. Private walks are especially useful for visitors who are unfamiliar with the area, family groups containing different ages, or people who want to explore quieter places beyond the busiest routes.
Walks can be arranged for up to 14 people, with an additional guide available for larger groups when required.
Sarah works to make countryside walking as inclusive as the terrain allows. Routes can be planned to avoid stiles, follow well-made paths or limit steep gradients for people with particular physical or sensory access needs.
Options include shorter walks, canal and lakeside routes, woodland paths and outings suitable for families using an off-road buggy. As accessibility varies considerably between locations, individual requirements are discussed before booking.
This provides a supported way for new walkers and families to experience walking in Bannau Brycheiniog without committing to a demanding mountain route.
Women-focused events include guided walks, navigation workshops, walking weekends and wellbeing experiences. Selected events combine walking with activities delivered by specialist partners, such as supported cold-water dipping.
The programme is designed for women with different levels of experience, including those joining alone or looking to build their confidence outdoors. Walking retreats take place in Bannau Brycheiniog and on the Gower Peninsula.
Sarah works with charities, festivals, accommodation providers, visitor attractions and wellbeing organisations to create walks for events, retreats and community programmes.
Collaborations have included guided walks for Hay Festival and walking experiences linked with Brecon Mountain Railway journeys. Businesses can also arrange team days that combine time outdoors with conversation, wellbeing and shared experience.
Sarah is a qualified Walk Leader, a member of the Mountain Training Association and British Mountaineering Council, and a Bannau Brycheiniog Ambassador. She is fully insured and trained in outdoor and mental-health first aid.
Sarah Price Hiking offers a supportive way to discover the landscapes and stories of the Welsh borders, whether joining a scheduled event or arranging a walk shaped around a particular group.
