Brecon Arts Festival 2014

Brecon will be coming alive over the next month with art, music, poetry and literature popping up all over the town for the Brecon Arts Festival 2014. 

Artbeat Brecon is a group of Brecon based businesses and artists working together to positively promote the galleries, cultural enterprises, artists and craftspeople within the town, and each autumn they come together. Brecon Arts Festival 2014 will be a celebration of the Arts with events taking place in this beautiful market town to showcase the very best that Brecon has to offer.

Here are some of the highlights for this year's festival, but for the full listing check the website!

Permanent exhibitions:

Matt Williams Art Exhibition  - for whole month at the Ardent Gallery. Free.

The Muse exhibition of work produced by local artists including paintings, stone carvings, pottery, felting, jewellery and small metal work - all week at The Old Museum. Free. 

'In my Craft or Sullen Art' - twelve artists respond to the poems of Dylan Thomas to celebrate his centenary - whole month from 4th Oct - 29th Nov at The Hours. Free.

Workshops:

Creative Writing - 25th Oct - painting, printing and creative writing with Veronica Gibson and Adele Nozedar. £5. 

Robotics Workshop - 27th Oct at The Old Museum - learn basics of planning, constructing and programming your own robot. £25 for children 8+, £35 over 16s and adults

Glass - 29th Oct at Tynywern- learn to manipulate glass to make jewellery in your favourite colours. £15 pp.

Can't Wait, Won't Paint with Karin Mear - 30th October 7pm-9pm at The Muse - A fun and informal workshop where absolutely no talent or experience is required!

Halloween Craft - 31st Oct at Brecknock Museum - optional fancy-dress for fun Halloween activities. Free. 

Fall of the House of Usher at Theatr Brycheiniog - 31st Oct - live performances of a new score for chamber orchestra by composer Charlie Barber.

Dylan From Scratch at The Old museum - 1st Nov - an evening of songs, poems, sketches and dance inspired by Dylan Thomas. Free. 

Baka Beyond - After the Tempest at Theatr Brycheniog - 2nd Nov - hear African rhythms merge with Celtic harmonies.
