Autumn has arrived in the Brecon Beacons with leaves starting to turn brown and a chill in the air. Summer is definitely over, but there are a lot of exciting autumn activities coming up!
Just because summer has left us for another year does not mean there isn’t a lot of exciting adventures to be had. With campfire cookouts and helping hedgehogs, there’s a lot on offer for the whole family in The Brecon Beacons National Park!
NEW SLIDE at The Wye Valley Canoe Centre at Glasbury. The bunkhouse which recently opened has now installed a large tubular slide for a sharp exit from the huge sofas down to the ground floor. The posh bunkhouse in the converted Baptist Chapel
in Glasbury next door to the River Cafe and Wye Valley Canoes and is a great venue for large family groups or groups of friends. From £38pp per night
The Lion Street Gallery in Hay-on-Wye have a wonderful Autumn Exhibition on with twenty contemporary artist and sculptors, mostly of whom work in Wales, exhibiting a wide variety of work. This includes a stag made from teak driftwood through to stunning expressionist landscapes and much more. Open Mon – Sat 10.30 – 5.00, art loving dogs very much welcome.
Sheep Trekking, Brecon Beacons
Each sheep is fitted with a specially designed harness to carry your snack, and a soft rope halter, and you will choose your own sheep from a small flock of especially trained Jacobs. He will then lead you along a scenic trek that takes you towards the Black Mountain with scenic views towards Pen y Fan. £25-£35 28th September
Spoon Carving and Campfire Cookout, Brecon Beacons

Foraging for Food - A Hedgerow hunt with Good Day Out, Brecon Beacons
Walk on the wild side with local author Adele Nozedar, author of ‘The Hedgerow Handbook’. Explore the meadows, woodland and banks surrounding the river Usk, identifying and foraging for wild and garden plants which are traditionally used for food and medicines.

On the 25th of October you could see yourself standing in one of the world’s few Dark Sky areas situated in the Brecon Beacons. There are only a limited number of spaces to spend the evening star gazing with local astronomer Allan Trow. £55

From the 25th of October to the 2nd of November you can browse a wide selection of arts and crafts and The Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre. Each piece is made locally and are hand-made pieces of treasure. FREE
