Autumn is a great month to visit the Brecon Beacons with rolling hills awash with golden colour, crisp leaves and vivid colours in abundance. Click here for some great walks to enjoy. The Llandovery Sheep Festival celebrates Welsh sheep farming and the business of wool. Over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of September, you can visit stalls, workshops and exhibitions showcasing prized sheep, wool-craft, country cooking, country dancing, sheepdog trials and much more. An interesting and unique couple of days!

Food lovers rejoice! The autumn months are full of celebrations and festivals showcasing the best of local food and drink. GliffaesThe Brecon Beacons is host to a wide variety of food and drink, from smoked meats and fish at The Black Mountains Smokery and the unique Welsh whisky at the Penderyn Distillery, to award winning gourmet food at Llansantffraed Court or locally sourced country food at Gliffaes Country House HotelAbergavenny Food Festival takes place on the 15th and 16th of September, and is an excellent place to experience local foods and produce as well as some of the most exotic and daring culinary adventurers. The sun may not be popping its head out every day in Autumn but don't worry! The Brecon Beacons National Park has plenty of underground adventures you can enjoy when the weather may not be at its best! The caves and mines underneath the hills are waiting to be explored! Discover here.

There are plenty of shows, live music and workshops being held at Theatr Brycheiniog this September. You can enjoy the Last Night of the Proms, take part in Uplift Singing Sessions, laugh out loud at the Comedy Club, singalong to the best of The Eagles and enjoy plenty of live music at the Waterfront every Saturday 1pm to 3pm! Mining Exhibition at Big Pit

There are plenty of events happening at Blaenavon World Heritage Site this Autumn! There’s an exhibition throughout September at Big Pit tracing the history of mining, Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway will be hosting their steam gala and there’s free admission to Blaenavon Ironworks on the 29th & 30th of September.
