This month is all about art! The wonderful town of Brecon sees a ONE LONG MONTH OF ART FESTIVAL! So here's our guide to the Brecon Arts Beat Festival

In this guide we bring you our top picks of everything to see and do in Brecon’s month long celebration of art, literature food and music. Where better to host such an event than in the stunning Brecon Beacons? It is known as the cultural hotspot of Wales, drawing artists from around the world seeking inspiration in a town famous for its mesmerizing landscape.

The town will host month long exhibitions from top artists such as...

Virginia Graham, Gate Gallery - nostalgia and the domestic inspire these delicate ceramics by Virginia who incorporates precious stones and metal to produce one-off pieces reminding us of that bygone era.

Ruth Shelley, Gate Gallery- drawing inspiration from the mid Wales landscape Ruth manipulates glass using dramatic colour clashes which play with light beautifully.

Saffron Waghorn, Brecon Library - having worked in stone for 30 years Saffron will be exhibiting her distinctive outdoor sculptures as well as teaching classes.

National Poetry Day, The Hours - Thurs 3rd Oct
Everyone is invited to join in and get their creative juices flowing in the cafe whilst you might even get your hands on a free book.

Ballet Black , Theatr Brycheiniog- Fri 4th Oct 8pm
Choreographed by world class professionals dancers from around the world are making their debut at Theatr Brycheiniog in what is sure to be an outstanding performance.

A Walk on the Wild Side - Sat 5th Oct 11am-12.30pm
Lead by artist Rosie Whitfield and Brecknock Wildlife Trust this event will give walkers the chance to photograph the wonderful wildlife with a twist. All submissions will be judged for first, second and third places!

Outsider Art - Thurs 10th Oct 7pm
David Maclagan, author and art therapist, will be talking on his theories on art for ‘World Mental Health Day.’ 

Celf a Chrefft, The Hours - Sun 20th Oct 10am-4pm
This pop-up fayre will feature a range local arts and crafts for unique pieces just in time for Christmas.

Halloween Mask-making, Ardent Gallery - Fri Oct 25th
Just in time for half-term, see what ghastly ghouls you can come up with in this fantastic workshop.

Spooky family fun with artists Sue Thorne, Rob Davies and Saffron Waghorn plus mask making with Take pArt - that’s a lot to fit tin!

Caroley Bergman, Brecon Tithe Barn - Sat 2nd Nov 10am-4pm
Having previously worked in photography and fashion, Caroley has found her real passion in stained glass as she experiements using various methods to create vibrant pieces. Here she runs a workshop where everyone can have a go
