1. Pen y Fan
The 886m summit of Pen y Fan is the literal highlight of the
Beacons Circuit. This lofty vantage gives spectacular views of almost the entire National Park.
2. Table Mountain
The pinnacle of the
Crickhowell to Table Mountain walk features an Iron Age hillfort, alongside panoramic views of the Usk valley and Black Mountains.
3. Sugar Loaf
Climb the
Sugar Loaf from Abergavenny and you’ll be rewarded with a 360-degree panorama that takes in the central Beacons, Pen Cerrig-calch, the Black Mountains, Hatterrall Hill and the Skirrid.
4. Tor y Foel
The high point of the
Bwlch to Tor y Foel walk is a 551m peak with expansive views to the central Beacons and the rolling Black Mountains along the border between England and Wales.
5. The Gap
This spectacular and aptly named break in the mountains has been a north–south route through the central Beacons possibly as far back as Roman times. Walk
Pen y Fan and Cribyn from Cwm Gwdi for some mighty vistas before you descend into Cwm Cynwyn.
